Sensible 4 - Learning from deep tech SW startup: the art of failure

Learn from the experiences of a serial entrepreneur, engineer, and former CEO of Sensible 4, a pioneering Finnish self-driving automotive software company. Harri led a team that grew university research spin-off to recognized startup and pioneer in the self-driving industry. The company went from zero to 90 persons, grew from bootstrapping into acquiring major global customers, raised 18M€ of funding, built global awareness and then in 2023 they all went for garden leave.

Harri used this time to reflect, refresh and to start all over again in the deep-tech startup sector. Presentation covers the journey and lessons learned and how these experiences are impacting his ongoing work with building one of the most ambitious deep-tech startups in stealth. They’re set to transform a key aspect of everyday technology, revolutionizing an industry that has been without real innovation since the 1970s. It’s time for a major shift, and humanity deserves nothing less.

Dots And Lines in Product Management, with AI Pencil

You have set the expected business outcomes, planned the output deliveries accordingly. You have also set up metrics like North Star and Input Metrics to track how it is going, connecting the dots and lines . Now you have a good enough map and a self-made compass. But as you navigate through the territory, how can you be sure that your map and compass are accurate? Do adjustments need to be made—perhaps erasing some and drawing new dots and lines? This is where it can feel like performing a "rocket surgery." In this talk, I invite you to a conversation about how GenAI can serve as the pencil with an eraser, helping us refine both the map and the compass as we go.

Chaari is focused on building product "engine rooms" that propel for customer and business value generation. With over 20 years of experience across various roles in software product development—ranging from coding and design to data & analytics and product management—he has gained some perspectives, insights, and challenges to share.

Enterprise Architect, Barona

Making the leap from in-house development to using SaaS partners

In this talk, I’ll cover Barona's shift from in-house development to SaaS software and how our business reaped the benefits. Thanks to this transformation, we have more time to tailor solutions for all business units, with our focus now changing from development to operating services. One detail I find of particular interest and importance is that we defined and migrated some basic building blocks, including SSO, from our own solution on top of other SaaS-based solutions.

I work as an Enterprise Architect at Barona, and my responsibility is to manage our technical solutions for the Barona staffing and recruitment business area. During my seven years working with Barona, I have led our internal ERP development, IAM transformation, common API solution, and SaaS-based ERP transformation, among other smaller developments. My role has changed from leading our internal service development to managing Barona architecture to meet business needs with our SaaS partners and internal development teams.

Data, AI, and the Human Factor: Guiding Organizational Transformation

Digital Transformation: Moving from traditional data systems to the cloud and data lakes is essential to support advanced analytics and decision-making, so that we can move into crafting. HR teams must focus on becoming "content scientists" by creating value-driven content from data rather than becoming data scientists.

HR Data and Business Value: Organizations need to understand how to leverage HR data to drive meaningful business transformation and make better decisions. The future of HR will be heavily data-driven, with a shift from structured data analysis to generating new insights.

Jonas has extensive experience in HR and HRIT roles, working with both global and local teams across all organizational levels. His passion lies in integrating people management with technology, believing we are on a journey that will continue to reshape the HR department, HR roles and the impact it will have on the operational part of the business.

While AI and automation bring new opportunities and challenges, Jonas also remains focused on the importance and potential of people and HR's critical role in driving transformation and fostering trust, good organisational culture, and engagement. Jonas’ expertise spans developing global HR technology frameworks, ensuring digital agility, and creating end-to-end business transformation solutions.

"Attitude is everything." With a positive attitude Jonas has been able to drive the biggest projects and changes. He believes we learn from being brave, by doing it, by working together and by being adaptable and committed.
